The 1970 LSU Tigers soccer team represented Louisiana State University during the college football season of 1970.
After losing 3-0 to No. 2 Notre Dame in South Bend, LSU extended the bid to face the Big Eight Conference champion Nebraska at the Orange Bowl. However, the offer depended on the Tigers beating Tulane in New Orleans and Ole Miss in Baton Rouge in the last two weeks of the season.
Still raving about the closing of the main bowl game in 1969 despite the 9-1 record, LSU responded to the challenge. The Tigers overcame a stubborn Tulane squad, who earned the Liberty Bowl invitation despite falling 26-14 at the Battle for Rag, and then dismantle Ole Miss 61-17 in front of a large television audience and nearly 70,000 fans at Tiger Stadium. In that game, Tommy Casanova tied the NCAA record with two goals behind the punt in one game. Casanova and linebacker Mike Anderson are recognized as All-American consensus.
