Woodsball (also known as woods paintball , hillball or bushball ) is a paintball game format, in which players compete in open nature area (in contrast to the inflatable bunker-based inflatable format) using a paintball gun to mark the opponent.

Woodsball is a paintball style that can be played in a natural field, including a forest area - limited only by the availability of land. Play strategy
The Woodsball player follows a unique strategy among paintball variations, in which players can be given the option to equip themselves with different tools based on the role or class assigned in the team. Certain weather conditions can affect players; the wind can affect the paintball trajectory, the mist can inhibit visibility, and the hot and cold temperatures can affect CO 2 in the catball marker propellant system.
Tools
Woodsball equipment includes standard compulsory paintball equipment, which includes markers, paintballs, harness/pod belt, and protective masks - but players also use other military items such as camouflage, combat boots, and ghillie clothing. In addition, the player's equipment may vary depending on their game style, or position.
While standard paintball equipment can be used in woodball, manufacturers can market their products as specific to the woodsball game format. In most cases, the equipment is designed to be more reliable in harsh conditions outdoors. Gloves, bearings, and other armor are also allowed to improve comfort and safety in rough play environments, such as valleys and rocky terrain.
Marker
While paintball markers can be used in woodball, the format allows for marker customization - allowing players to fill tactical roles while using the same marker across. For example, a player might fulfill the role of a sniper by adding a more accurate telescope, stock, and barrel view to his marker. The same equipment can later be replaced with fully automatic grip and/or circuit board, allowing the player to play as a shooter. Camouflage
Camouflage is very important for woodball; players must blend in with the surrounding environment, making it more difficult for the opposing team to see players. Proper camouflage properties may vary, and may include military (such as Flecktarn and MARPAT and one of the newest types of camo, multicam) or hunting styles (including Mossy Oak and realtree). Players can also take advantage of the "sasquatch" or "ghillie" suit, allowing them to remain undetected at close range.
Play tournament
Woodsball players can take part in amateur or professional games, with tournaments organized by leagues around the world; Games are generally considered to be cheaper than the standard format of the speedball tournament, though not widespread. The United States has two dominant leagues, Woodsball Tournament League (WTL), and the Ultimate Woodsball League. (UWL)
Game variant
The rules and special variants of woodsball are unlimited, but there are basic modes that are often played and organized by woodsball field operators.
- Capture a flag (CTF) - Both teams try to capture the flag of the opposing team, or a neutral flag. Depending on the agreed rules, tagged players may be able to re-enter the game after a specified period of time.
- Elimination - The team must mark each opponent without being eliminated.
- Ironman - The team or individual plays as usual, but the tag does not count as elimination. This game only ends after the players give up or run out of paint.
- King of the hill - Players must maintain or capture points of interest.
- Protect VIPs - The team must protect one player on their team, while the opponent must eliminate this individual. Non-VIP players can reenter the field after being tagged, but the game ends when the VIP is tagged.
- Zombies - One player starts against the other. But one such player is a zombie and can only be removed with a marked on their head. If they shoot an opposing player, they turn into zombies after a certain respawn time. Game ends when one team is removed all.
- Common Foe - Respawn/Resurrect player as a new team to fight the remaining players from both teams. Great games if you lack the equipment or just if you want to keep the game moving and minimize the amount of time in the dead box. This allows for fast winner fixed style scenarios.
