This trust was formed in 2003 after the previous Latics owner Chris Moore left the club in financial trouble. The Oldham Trust, officially launched at a meeting at the end of Rochdale Road in Boundary Park was formed to save the club from liquidation. Trust's first fundraising event is a match between Millennium Allstars and Wembley Wizards that saw former Latics Players take to the Boundary Park field. This event earned over à £ 100,000.
After an American consortium consisting of Simon Blitz, Danny Gazal and Simon Corney from New York City took control in Boundary Park, the Oldham Trust agreed to buy a 3% stake in the club for £ 200,000. This 3% share gives the Oldham Trust a vote on the board of the football club, making it a strong medium between fans and clubs.
The Oldham Trust continues to work with Oldham Athletic and broaden the horizon with new events and new fundraising ideas all to help ensure Oldham Athletic's future is always safe.
The Oldham Trust has a director on the board of a football club. Many Football Trusts aim to have a stake in the football club they represent so they can report their internal work with their fans and bring their ideas, suggestions, and fan complaints to the boardroom level.
