Quail Hollow Club is a country club and golf course in the southeastern United States, located in the neighborhood of Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a private member club, founded by James J. Harris on April 13, 1959.
The club hosted Kemper Open on the PGA Tour from 1969 to 1979, and toured PaineWebber Invitational from 1983 to 1989. The PGA Tour returned to Quail Hollow in 2003 with the Wachovia Championship, now the Wells Fargo Championship.
Quail Hollow was designed by George Cobb golf course architect who designed several golf courses, especially in the southeastern part of the United States. Opened in 1961, it underwent a series of improvements, including several hole modifications by Arnold Palmer in 1986, and a redesign by Tom Fazio in 1997, 2003, and from 2014 to 2016 in preparation for the PGA Championship. South of central Charlotte, the average elevation of the course is about 600 feet (185 m) above sea level. This course is part of a large housing development.
The club hosts the PGA Championship in 2017 in mid-August. Therefore, the Wells Fargo event for 2017 was moved to Wilmington and held at Eagle Point Golf Club, near the Atlantic coast. The Quail Hollow membership consists mainly of wealthy local business people plus children from the old Charlotte family.
Quail Hollow is scheduled to host the fourteenth edition of the President's Cup at 2021.
