Gary Charles Evans (October 7, 1954 - August 14, 1998) was a serial killer confessing in and around the Capital District of New York. His passion for stealing antiques and some escapes from detention - including those that ended with his death - made him the headlines in the area on numerous occasions. He disrupts the lives of many; a famous documentary about "Destination America" ââdescribes the life of a family terrorized by the killer.

Evans was born in Troy, New York to Roy Evans and Flora Mae Lee. As a child, he suffered beatings in the hands of both his parents, and claimed that he was raped by his father when he was eight years old. Flora Mae Evans is a woman suffering from a mental disorder who attempts suicide on many occasions, never misses a gun and accidentally shoots her husband on the shoulder. His parents divorced in 1968, and his mother remarried and divorced four times before going out as a lesbian when Gary was seventeen.

1990s
In October 1991, Evans spent two weeks on the roof of a building in Little Falls, New York, sealing coins and jewelry store on the first floor owned by Gregory Jouben, 36. On October 17, 1991, Evans entered the Jouben store. , asked him for the price of a piece of merchandise, and then shot him to death. A small community in rural Herkimer County is outraged by one of several murders this year in the area.
In 1993, Evans stole more than 800 antiques from a group store in Quechee, Vermont. Evans used a crane to steal a thousand-pound bench from the Albany cemetery, but he was arrested when his fence became nervous and changed it. In early 1994, Evans agreed to assist the authorities with information about Jeffrey Williams, involved in Karolyn Lonczak's high profile murder. When Williams was found guilty, Evans was released on February 12, 1994, with police still unaware that Evans himself had killed at least four people at the time.
Final break and death
In 1998, Evans was arrested again. In custody, he confessed to five murders and then led the police to the body of the divided fragmented victim. His last escape from a prison transport van. Manicured and chained, Evans used the key that took his nose out, kicked out the window and then jumped from the prison van. Evans was later cornered by the police and jumped to his death.
