A barre ( French pronunciation: Ã, [ba?] ) is a stationary handle that provide support for people during various types of exercises. Barre is widely used in ballet training and warm-up exercises, where such exercises are commonly referred to as barre jobs. In the ballet class, barre might also refer to the class section involving barre jobs. Barres is also used for warm-up exercises in other dance types, as well as in general fitness programs.
