Joseph Webb III (born November 14, 1986) is an American football quarterback for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). After playing college football for UAB Blazers, Webb was designed by Viking Minnesota in the sixth round of the NFL Draft 2010 as a quarterback. He also plays for the Carolina Panthers and Buffalo Bills.

Initial years
Born to Joseph and Wanda Webb, Joe Webb attended Ensley High School from 2001-2004. He moved to Wenonah High School in 2004, where he was given the honorable name of the 5A All-State Class by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. While attending Wenonah, he led the team into the country's first playoff round, eventually finishing third in the region. Webb set a school record in Wenonah for touchdown in one game, throwing four in a performance by 415 yards. Webb also played basketball and baseball and became a member of the National Honor Society.

College career
Webb registered at UAB in 2005 and was replaced for the 2005 season under head coach Watson Brown.
In 2006, Webb did not get a chance to play until the 11th game in Southern Miss, but he was able to start the last two games of the season. During his final season at the University of Central Florida, he connected on 33-of-51 passes (64.7 percent) to 426 yards with one goal passing, high season for each Blazer quarterback that year.
During the 2007 season, under new head coach Neil Callaway, Webb saw wide action, playing wide receivers, starting seven games and finishing the season with 30 receptions for 459 yards with three catchdowns.
The 2008 season was the first full Webb season as a UAB midfielder, starting all 12 contests, where he passed the C-USA record to rush yard by quarterback in a season with 1,021 yards. He is also ranked fourth in the country because of a rush to do quarterback. He was selected as permanent season team captain by his Blazer teammates at the end of the season. As a junior, Webb became the first player in NCAA history to pass more than 2,000 yards and rush to 1,000 in successive seasons. Webb was ranked 12th nationally from three categories of statistics: total violations (5), haste (10) and graduation efficiency (12th).
Webb completed its senior season in 2009 with 2,299 passing yards and 1,427 yards on the ground.
For his career, Webb had 5,771 yards passing and 2,774 yards rushed to a total of 8,545 yards offensive. He also recorded 37 touchdowns, 24 hurried touchdowns and four received scores. Webb was not invited to the NFL 2010 merge.
Working as a wide receiver at UAB Pro Day, some Webb numbers will lead other wide receivers' in the NFL merge. The 42.5-inch (108 cm) vertical jump is better than the receiver's driven, like a long jump that stands 11 feet 5.5 inches (3.49 m). Bench press Webb - 21 reps at 225 pounds (102 kg) - is the best in his position. Only one other recipient manages 20 reps of the same weight, according to the UAB athletic department. Webb also ran the 40-yard dashboard in 4.43 seconds.

On April 24, 2010, Webb was designed by Minnesota Vikings, 199th overall in the sixth round of the NFL Draft 2010. He was originally designed as a quarterback/wide receiver prospect, but then head coach Brad Childress announced that Webb would exclusively play quarterback for Minnesota Vikings.
Debut National Football League (NFL) Webb was against Buffalo Bills on December 5, 2010. He took the opening kickoff - becoming the first quarterback of Vikings to return the kickoff - before leaving the game with a hamstring injury.
Webb made his professional debut in the quarterback on December 13, 2010 against the New York Giants. He completed two of his five attempts for eight yards and also had a 16-yard run.
Webb rushed for his first professional touchdown as a quarterback on December 20, 2010, against the Chicago Bears in Minnesota. Filling the injured Brett Favre, he completed 15 of 26 passes for 129 yards, with two interception; He also has six hurried attempts for 38 yards and touchdowns.
On December 28, 2010, Webb began his first career, against the Philadelphia Eagles. Printing one hurried touchdown and throwing for 195 yards, he is 17-of-26 without interceptions. 2011 season

In the 14th Viking Week game against the Detroit Lions, starting quarterback Christian Ponder was weighed down at the start of the third quarter after throwing three intercept and groping once. Webb entered the game with a 31-14 deficit, and went on to bring the team back and almost wins, throwing his first professional touchdown pass and rushing for 109 yards including a 65-yard touchdown run (franchise record for quarterbacks, and the longest time of his career). The yard that reached 109 yards made a franchise record for most of the yard rushed in the game by quarterback. Webb's efforts eventually led to a 1 and goal situation on the one-yard line with nine seconds in the game and a score of 34-28. At the end of the game, Webb fumbled the ball that ended the game.
On December 24, 2011 against the Washington Redskins, Webb came in after Ponder left the game with a concussion. Webb is 4-of-5 for 84 yards and two touchdowns for a perfect 158.3 passer rating; she hurried to land again. He led the team to a 33-26 victory in Washington.
Overall, in the 2011 season, Webb finished with 376 passing yards, three touchdown passes, two intercept, 154 yards rushed, and two rushing touchdowns.
season 2012
During the 2012 season, Webb has a limited role because it has never been used as a quarterback in the regular season. On January 5, 2013, Webb was named early quarterback for the Wild Card Vikings game against the Green Bay Packers after Christian Ponder was sidelined with an elbow injury. Webb finished with 11 finishes on 30 attempts with 180 yards passing and one goal in a losing attempt.
2013 season
With the signing of Matt Cassel on March 14, Viking coach Leslie Frazier mentioned that Webb can be given consideration to play in a position other than the quarterback. "(Webb) is a talented athlete we want to make sure we do the right thing by him and our team, as well." said Frazier, "that's something we will continue to discuss as we progress." It was confirmed on May 15 that Webb had been informed of his transition to a wide receiver. Frazier showed interest to play WebB quarterback again when Josh Freeman and Christian Ponder were injured. Webb later said in a press conference that he did not want to play another quarterback for the Vikings. In 2013, Webb captured five feeds for 33 yards.
Carolina Panthers
On March 21, 2014, Webb signed with the Carolina Panthers. Although he previously said in 2013 that he has no intention of playing as a quarterback anymore, when signed with the Panthers he has become a third-string replacement quarterback, and is also used as a wide receiver. However, his dominant role at home with the Panthers has returned kickoffs.
In the 2015 season, Webb continued his role as a kick returner for the Panthers.

On February 7, 2016, Webb was part of the Panthers team playing in the Super Bowl 50. In the game, he was a team back kick when the Panthers fell to the Denver Broncos with a score of 24-10.
On September 2, 2017, Webb was released by the Panthers.
Buffalo Bills
On September 4, 2017, Webb was signed by Buffalo Bills. Webb played in wildcat formation for Bills throughout the 2017 season, taking control as a quarterback in the third quarter of a snowball game against the Indianapolis Colts on December 10 after Nathan Peterman suffered a head injury. The bill wins overtime with a score of 13-7.
Houston Texans
On April 5, 2018, Webb entered into a contract with Houston Texans.
