Danny Verpaele (born October 5, 1985) is an American football and coach. He plays as a free security for University of South Florida (USF) NCAA Division I NC.A college football team. Verpaele is a graduate of Merritt Island High School in 2004. Verpaele trains linebackers as a graduate assistant in Mississippi State, and currently an offensive quality control coach for the Black Knights Army. Verpaele coached defenses at Jacksonville University for three seasons, and he began his coaching career at VMI.

Verpaele is a four-year lettermen for Mustang Merritt Island. In the first year (2002-2003) Verpaele led the Mustang to the regional semifinals, losing to Drew Weatherford who led the O 'Lakes State School 20-14 on November 29, 2002. Verpaele is a Second Class Class 4A Class Team selected in 2002. < br> In 2003, his senior year, Verpaele erupted, passed 1,531 yards and rushed 1,015. Verpaele led Mustangs to the regional final championship but they failed, losing 27-0 to Washington High School on December 5, 2003. Verpaele also played defensive again and was voted All Seasons Space All Seasons Space by The Florida Today . Orlando Sentinel voted Verpaele to the All-Central Florida team and he was ranked 68th as the Best Prospect in the state of Florida. In 2003, Verpaele was re-elected as a member of the AllAround Class 4A Team. Verpaele holds the distinction of being the first player in school history to start all four years.

Higher Education

  • 2004 - Verpaele plays in 11 first-year games, makes 25 single tackles, 32 are aided for 57 tackles in total. Verpaele also has two sacks, six tackles to lose 13 yards, one pass off and the other recovered. For his prominent frosh season, Verpaele grabbed the Freshman All-American Third Team Award.

  • 2006 - Verpaele plays in 13 games, makes 26 solo tackles, 13 assists for a total of 39 tackles. Verpaele recorded a tackle for loss and recorded an interception versus the University of North Carolina, returning it 26 yards. On November 25, 2006, versus no. 7 West Virginia University Mountaineers, Verpaele made one of the biggest dramas of the season, when he struck back Steve Slaton on the goal line, forcing USF restored confusions. The Bulls will continue to defeat the highest ranked opponent in school history 24-19. Verpaele also recorded five tackles and unpacked three baits in a Bulls bowl victory over East Carolina University at PapaJohns.com Bowl on December 23, 2006.

  • Danny's older brother, Kevin Verpaele (1999-2003) is a prominent 4 years for USF. Danny also wore the same jersey number (# 17) Kevin wore. Kevin and Danny only make a second brother to play for Head Coach Jim Leavitt (the others are Bill and Santiago GramÃÆ'¡tica).
