The Air Force is a range of athletic shoes made by Nike, Inc. which started with Air Force 1 and went on to include Air Force 2, Air Force 3, Air Force STS, Air Force 5, Air Force XXV and Air Force 09. Air Force 1 (or AF1 or AF-1) originally just called the Air Force. His name is a reference to Air Force One, the plane carrying the President of the United States. Nike Air Force 1s was originally regarded as a favorite inner city youth boots, especially in Harlem, New York; then the nickname "Uptown". Rapper Nelly and his group, St. Lunatics, collaborated on a 2002 single entitled "Air Force Ones" about the shoe. Nike has vigorously defended Air Force 1 in US courts. In one case, they were charged as alleged trademark infringement at Air Force 1, Already LLC, dba YUMS, who responded by filing a counter-claim to cancel the Air Force 1 trademark.
